SKILLS ASSESSMENT FOR ABA THERAPY

Building the Right Plan Starts With Understanding Your Child

Your child has an autism diagnosis. Now what?

Before therapy begins, we need to understand where your child is right now; what they can do, what's challenging, what motivates them, and where they need support. All Star ABA's comprehensive skills assessment gives us that picture, so we can build an ABA therapy plan that fits perfectly and propels them forward.

Bilingual assessments available in English and Spanish.

What Is an Autism Assessment?

An autism assessment is a detailed evaluation that shows us your child's current abilities across communication, social interaction, daily living skills, play, and problem behaviors. Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) observe your child, work with them directly, and talk with you to understand what's working and what needs support.

This assessment becomes the foundation for your child's ABA therapy plan—the roadmap showing where we're starting and where we're going.

What We  Evaluate

Our comprehensive assessment looks at your child across multiple areas:

Communication

Can your child ask for what they need? Do they use words, gestures, or alternative communication? Can they answer questions or hold a conversation?

Social Skills

How does your child interact with peers and adults? Do they make eye contact, respond to their name, initiate play, or understand social cues?

Daily Living Skills

Can your child dress themselves, use the bathroom independently, brush teeth, or follow a morning routine? We assess the skills that build independence.

Play and Leisure

Does your child play with toys appropriately? Do they engage in pretend play or show interest in age-appropriate activities?

Problem Behaviors

We identify behaviors that interfere with learning—tantrums, aggression, self-injury, property destruction—and figure out what's triggering them.

Adaption Skills

Can your child handle transitions? Follow instructions? Manage emotions? We look at the skills that help them navigate daily life.

Learning Style

What motivates your child? What helps them learn best? We identify strengths and preferences to make therapy effective and enjoyable.

How the Assessment Process Works

Parent Interview

We start by talking with you. What are your biggest concerns? What does your child struggle with most? What are your goals for therapy? Your input guides everything we do.

01

Direct Observation

Our BCBA spends time with your child—watching how they play, communicate, interact, and respond to different situations. We see your child in action, not just on paper.

02

Standardized Testing

We use proven assessment tools to measure your child's skills objectively across developmental areas. This gives us baseline data to track progress over time.

03

Comprehensive Report

We compile everything into a clear report that explains your child's current skill levels, strengths, and areas where ABA therapy will focus.

05

Behavior Analysis

If your child has problem behaviors, we analyze what's happening before and after those behaviors to understand why they're occurring and how to address them.

04

Treatment Plan

Based on assessment results, our BCBA designs a personalized ABA therapy plan with specific, measurable goals tailored to your child and your family's priorities.
